mijp1 is a Reader in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics at the University of York, England, where he has been since September 2000. His research focuses on the development and application of quantum mechanics based computer simulation of materials, in order to understand the properties of materials and/or predict new ones with better properties, etc. He is one of the lead developers of the CASTEP computer code, which is widely used in academia and industry.

I use mercurial regularly, and before that CVS and RCS, so I am familiar with the basic concepts, but there are just so many things to set up & use, and I did not find the web interface of git-hub very helpful - just even MORE stuff - but the online git-hub help was very useful.
