Brian Magill currently works as a contractor at the NASA Langley Research Center. He develops sofware for processing data from the CALIPSO satellite. (CALIPSO uses pulsed laser light to characterize and track clouds and aerosols in the earth’s atmosphere.) He is involved in the local Python users group. His interests outside of software development include cycling, poetry, and playing Javanese gamelan. He currently lives in York County, VA.

My Reason for taking part in Software Carpentry…

Having developed and maintained scientific software for a number of years, I would like to help improve its quality. I also would like to improve my teaching skills.

What I found hardest about using Git the first time was…

Its GUI interfaces do not have the same look and feel as those of Windows, MacIntosh, or various flavors of Linux. It is easy to get lost in the plethora of options.
