Erik Bray is a software engineer in the science software branch at Space Telescope Science Institute, where he works primarily on supporting Hubble and JWST science software. He is also dedicated to teaching and promoting software design best practices to his colleagues both at the Space Telescope Institute, and in the Astronomy data analysis community at large. He has also been involved in the Python community for about six years, and has a particular interest in improving the packaging of Python software products. Previously he worked for five years in the intelligence community on web development and security research. He has degrees in Computer Science and Japanese from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and is working on a masters in Applied Physics at Johns Hopkins.
